Breathe Therapy was born out of a longing to join together two of my passions - effective, compassionate therapy and mindfulness.
I am an accredited mental health social worker who is passionate about offering caring therapy. I listen deeply, and in partnership with you, develop a plan to support your needs.
I offer counselling for adults, children and young people who are struggling with difficult life experiences including traumas such as sexual abuse, domestic violence and child abuse, as well as life transitions and other difficulties with mental health and well-being.
My therapeutic specialties and passions lie in healing trauma, supporting mental health and strengthening family relationships.
I also am a passionate advocate of mindfulness meditation due to my own felt experience of deeper awareness and therefore freedom. In my many years of experience I have also witnessed its power with many of my clients.
I am trained in a range of psychological modalities however I draw most strongly from Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), with it's strong focus on values, Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) with its practical strategies for self-regulation including mindfulness, and Radical Exposure Tapping (RET) for rapid trauma processing and distress desensitization. I also draw heavily on Tara Brach's Mindfulness teachings which evoke self-compassion and compassion for others.
With children and young people I utilise playful approaches to therapy and include the use of a sand tray, clay, toys and books to engage, teach and support them.
I love spending time with my family and friends.
I have a deep love of being in nature, whether that's bush walking, visiting the beach, hiking or having a coffee by the river. I am an introvert who loves rejuvenating my energy with quiet rituals and creative pursuits such as journalling, playing guitar and painting.
